Pre & Post Treatment Do’s and Don’ts

Before undergoing this treatment, there are a few things that patients should do and know to ensure a safe and effective procedure:

Before the treatment:

Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds for at least two weeks prior to the treatment. Sun damage can increase the risk of skin irritation and hyperpigmentation after the procedure.

Avoid certain medications: avoid taking certain medications, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood thinners, for at least two weeks before the procedure. These medications can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.

Avoid topical products: avoid using any topical skincare products that contain retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids, or beta-hydroxy acids for at least one week prior to the treatment. These products can increase skin sensitivity and may cause irritation during the procedure.

The skin is double cleansed and a Medical Grade SL Lasers™ Carbon cream is applied. Our carbon cream is specially formulated for the Black Diamond Laser Treatment™ which is a medical grade nano activated carbon cream. It is made of high-tech raw material including medical grade special carbon powder, vitamin B3, seaweed & various marine minerals.

The laser beam gently heats the carbon, killing all the bacteria in the pores, stimulating collagen & elastin production and closing the pores. The carbon is ‘popped’ off the face with the laser. You will hear this popping sound throughout the treatment.

The simultaneous generation of thermal energy stimulates the synthesis of fresh collagen and the promotion of a healthy-looking complexion.

The Skin structure is visibly strengthened and even, opened pores purified and cleared. Leaving your skin glowing and truly clean.

Uneven skin tone, congested skin, active acne, fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation, which can develop for several different reasons including sun damage, inflammation, hormonal changes, and reaction to medications.

For superior results, initially, we recommend 4 to 6 treatments every 2 to 3 weeks, this timeframe allows regeneration of collagen and elastin of the skin tissue. Effectiveness of the treatment will determine on the individual. Maintenance treatments are then recommended monthly to tri-monthly for ongoing results

Side effects are minimal with slight redness and tingling a few hours post treatment. Temporary hair removal to the treated area can occur and some individuals may experience a mild outbreak the week following the treatment. Outbreaks could be due to toxins and impurities in the skin. The body will flush these impurities out through the skin, hence causing the break out.

There is virtually no pain with the Carbon Laser Peel. During the procedure you should experience slight tingling and warmth on the skin, which is normal while the laser zaps or pops away the thin layer of Carbon.

After the treatment:

Avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen.

Do not pick, scratch or squeeze at any scabs or dry patches that may form on the skin.

Use a gentle cleanser: Do not use harsh or abrasive cleansers on the treated area for at least one week after the procedure. Also avoid using any products that contain retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids, or beta-hydroxy acids.

Apply a gentle moisturizer to the treated area to help soothe and hydrate the skin.

Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

Avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week after the procedure and should wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 when going outside.
